Cecil Beaton or Sir Cecil Walter Hardy Beaton was a Fashion and Portrait photographer known for many of his images but Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe are some of his best known subjects.
Born on 14 of January 1904 in Hampstead, became the photographer for the British edition of Vogue in 1931 and became great friends with another photographer legend Horst. He would photograph some of the Hollywood elite and Queen Elizabeth and her mother. Later he also worked as a staff photographer for Vanity Fair.
What do you think of his portraits? He would have been a great headshots photographer.
Both Audrey and Marilyn are captured vividly and in a palatable way that makes anyone curious and excited to learn more about them. If I had a chance to interview Sir. Beaton, I would love to know how he managed to make these two comfortable.
“I will only photograph those I know and admire”, Sir Cecil Beaton. “I learn to admire and know all those I photography”, mine.
